About us
W & F Groombridge Funeral Directors was founded in the late 1800s by William Groombridge and was first based at Waterloo Road in Tonbridge. The company moved from its premises in Quarry Hill Road, where it had been since the early 1900s, to its new address in Hadlow Road during 2009.
After the passing of William Groombridge, the company was succeeded by his two sons William and Frank. William's grandson Herbert joined the business in 1920 after the death of his father (William). Herbert continued to carry on the family business from 1946 until the early 1980s when the business was sold. Herbert stayed with the company as did many other staff members. Mrs. Grace Groombridge continued to take a keen interest in the funeral business until she passed away in December 2009 aged 98 years.
W & F Groombridge is well known and respected within Tonbridge and we aim to provide a service based on our long established experience and traditional family values whilst understanding the changing wishes of today's community.
In order to extend our services to the wider community we opened our second branch in Tunbridge Wells in 2010.
W & F Groombridge Funeral Directors is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors.
